DIY Brine Shrimp Hatcheries | ||||||

Here's my Shrimp hatchery... I basically drill a hole in the bottom of a coke bottle. Pass a rigid plastic air line tube into the cap and leave 1/2 inch sticking out of the bottom of the bottle. Drill one more hole as a vent. I fill the bottle with salt water (sg 1.022), shrimp, and a pinch of baking soda from the cap. With my fingers over the 2 holes I cap tightly and connect to an air pump. Seems like a lot of work but it allows me to use any empty tank as a water bath, and I heat the tank to about 82-85° Fahrenheit to speed up hatching. |
